MRS Spring 2025: A Productive Week in Seattle

Our team had a very productive time at the 2025 MRS Spring Meeting in Seattle! It was a great opportunity to share our work, learn from others, and strengthen connections within the materials science community. The energy and exchange of ideas were really valuable.

We were particularly pleased with how well Grace Guinan's poster was received. Her work on MXene defect analysis, using computer vision, generated a lot of positive discussion. It was rewarding to see her research connect with so many attendees.

For Maddy Hoffmann, this MRS Spring meeting was a significant introduction to the wider field of materials science. She was able to immerse herself in a diverse range of research, which I believe will be very beneficial for her development.

Additionally, we had the chance to reconnect with former colleagues from PNNL, and that was very good. Also, our visit to Shijing Sun's lab at the University of Washington was insightful. Seeing the work being done there on autonomous experimentation was really interesting, and it provided some good inspiration. The overall experience was very positive, and we came away with some valuable new perspectives.
